Wow, Trump Really IS a Genius! ←Sarcasm

I honestly can’t decide what is more tragically funny, the goofy, crazy, idiotic things that come out of Trump’s mouth or the lengths his supporters will go to in defending him. Ask a #Trump supporter one of the main reasons they voted for Trump and they will say proudly “He says what he means, and means what he says! So refreshing in politics!” Yet whenever he says something that sounds objectionable (which, let’s face it, is pretty often) they will immediately insist “That’s not what he meant! He didn’t mean it that way!” Make up your minds! Does he say what he means, or not mean what he says? You can’t have it both ways. #Smh

The difference between Trump supporters and #Obama supporters is blind devotion. Obama supporters loved his campaign speeches and promises and loved his presidential demeanor. Some loved the fact that he was African American. But if Obama did things we didn’t agree with, we didn’t support it. If he said things that didn’t make sense, we didn’t translate a better version for his detractors. And when he didn’t keep certain campaign promises, we called him on it. Overall I think Obama was a good president. I voted for him, and I think he did a good job. But note I said good, not great. He wasn’t perfect, and I won’t blindly insist that he was just because I’m a #Democrat and a woman of color.

In contrast, it literally doesn’t matter what Trump says or does, he has a legion of fans that will defend every single word out of his mouth. As he himself said, he could shoot a person on the street and his supporters would STILL support him and elect him into office. I got into a pointless debate (note to self to stop doing that) on Facebook over Disinfectant Gate. I posted how foolish I thought the comment was and dozens of Trump fans (who NEVER like or comment on any of my selfies, inspirational quotes, and photos with friends and family) jumped on my post to explain to me that wasn’t what he meant, he was a genius breaking down high-level medical concepts and #lefties like me couldn’t possibly grasp the medical breakthrough he was proposing. He then threw all of his defenders under the bus by saying he was being #sarcastic. I posted about how inappropriate it is for the #president and leader of the free world to use sarcasm in an address to the nation about a global #pandemic. The same crowd came back to the post, along with some more Trump supporters to boot. One guy literally stated that Trump “Never once said he was being sarcastic! NEVER!” To which I responded with a video clip of him saying exactly that. His response? “He’s the President of the United States! If he wants to be sarcastic, he can be sarcastic! HE CAN DO ANYTHING HE WANTS!!” I didn’t even respond to that fanaticism. Sounded too close to #Nixon saying “If the President of the United States does it, It’s not illegal!”

I’m not surprised though. These are the same people who staunchly defended him after the “grab ’em in the p**sy” debacle. Trust me, if Obama had been the one to say this, very few if any Democrats would have come out in support. Quite the opposite, we would have trashed him for it. Inappropriate frat boy talk is inappropriate frat boy talk no matter WHO says it (including frat boys). It is dangerous to give your undying allegiance and devotion to any man (or woman). He’s not a god. He’s a television personality who used showmanship to get into office. It was a nice trick, and it’s still working on all the Trumpaholics to this day.
